Player Identity Cards - Know the Rules

Our association issues identity cards to every player registered to play, from under 5 to over 45. The rules are straightforward. Cards must be inspected before the game commences, although a team manager may ask (and is entitled to see them at any time during the game). If a team does not have identity cards, no game shall take place. This includes what may best described as a “friendly fixture”.

The Main Points:

  • All players must have a current player identity card to be eligible to play.
  • All teams including U5 Kangaroos through to O45 are required to present their cards for inspection prior to the game.
  • Players who have not had identity checked at the beginning of the game are not eligible to take part.
  • If a player is sent from the field (shown a red card) their card is to be immediately given to the club secretary, once the referee has recorded the necessary details.
The management committee are unable to help clubs and teams in relation to identity checks if they are not carried out in accordance with the by-laws.

If you are not satisfied that the identity is correct, or you suspect a team may be cheating, make the challenge at the ground and have it dealt with by the club officials who are on duty. All the evidence is available and the rules are there to help you. Try not to wait for several days, and then place a complaint to the Association.
